Journalism is fundamentally about seeking the truth and reporting it. The purpose of Journalism is to educate and inform the public about not only things they want to know but also what they need to know.

The media through which messages are being transmitted include Radio, TV, Newspaper, Magazine, Films, Records, Tape Recorders, Video cassette and Internet etc. & require large organizational and electronic devices to put across the message. It is the ability of mass communication only that encompasses vast boundaries of space into a "Global Village." Media is also termed as fourth pillar of Democracy. Mass Media keeps watch on Social-Political Economics events of the close and faraway localities and reaches the accounts to the audience through Creative Reporting.

The future of medial students is very bright as so many opportunities in the world of communication are waiting for them. The large number of Media Channels, Newspapers, Magazines, Advertising Companies, Books, FM, Radio, Online Journalism have requirement of trend and professional journalists. Every Celebrity, Politician, Leader, Administration, Artist, Social Worker, Industrialist, Businessmen and even a small level person of society wants to highlight himself and achieve publicity. Moreover, for this purpose they always need Mass Media.

Objective of the Course :-

Role of journalists have been ever changing in tackling different Lifestyles. With the emergence of Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary approach in tackling different problems. Journalists are now confronted with new challenges. The department of journalism and mass communication aims at preparing young journalists who can accept these challenges and contribute valuably in the newly emerging field of internet and literary journalism in addition to print and electronic journalism. The programme aims to realize the following objectives:-

* To demonstrate the better working pattern of Print and Electronic Media.
* To develop Creative and Journalistic Writing skills.
* To demonstrate sound presentation and communication skills.
* To demonstrate and develop Journalistic skills taking interview, photography, sketching, recording, reviewing etc.

Lecture, Studio, Theatres and Practical Labs :-

The department is having modern lecture theatre and Media Studio equipped with requisite instruments like P.D. Camera, Digital Camera, DVD Player, Recorder, Multimedia sound system, public address system, for the various activities and training modules for being developing quality students. The department has its own Computer Lab facilitating the students in learning computer aided cartography, pagemaking, logo and design preparation along with photo editing.

Seminar, Extension Lecture :-

Seminars, Symposia and Extension Lectures are organized for the students periodically. Eminent scholars of their respective fields like Editors, poets, Journalists and scholars visit the department to deliver lectures.

Admission to B.A. (Journalism and Mass Communication) Course

(The number of seats for the course is 40)

Minimum qualification:

a) have passed Senior Secondary Examination of School Education, Haryana, Bhiwani 10+2 with 45% marks in aggregate.

OR

b) possesses a qualification of another University / Board recognized as equivalent to (a) shall eligible to join the course.
