Women cell plays an important role in voicing opinions on important matters that affect the daily life of women students. It provides a platform where students can comfortably participate and share their views. It also train women to acquire wide range of skills and knowledge, to develop and increase their social, economic and intellectual capacities for peace, security and prosperity of mankind. The Women Cell of Klp college started with the aim of empowering and orienting women to recognise their true value, potential and to help them attain their own stand in a competing world. It’s aim is the overall development of women in all spheres of their life. It helps in creating awareness among women on a range of issues from empowerment to environment.


Objectives
  • 1 To help students to change their mindset and attitude towards life in terms of women.
  • 2 To create awareness, instill values and develop the personality and leadership quality.
  • 3 To impart knowledge on legal rights of women.
  • 4 To organize workshops on personality development.
  • 5 To enhance self-esteem and self confidence among women students and staff.
  • 6 To foster decision making ability.
  • 7 To build a positive image of women in the society and recognise their contributions in every sphere
  • 8 To conduct guest lecturers by eminent people from different fields.

The Women Cell of the college organised a talk on Sustainable Ways to Manage Periods: All about Menstrual Cups by Dr Archana Yadav, Obstretician and Gynaecologist. She delved in detail in her talk about the harmful impact of Mentrual Waste on the environment and the huge landfills it is causing to the earth year after year and how switching to Menstrual Cups is so imperative to female health, hygiene as well as the environment. She demonstrated in detail the types and sizes of cups and how to use them according to individual needs. In a small town like Rewari, this information and knowledge was path breaking because of lack of general sensitivity and awareness towards women issues and environment. It was a successful program as lot of students and staff members asked their doubts and questions and were given satisfactory response by the speaker. Students also pledged to try to switch to cups from sanitary towels


The convenor of the Women Cell and Organising Secretary of this talk Dr.Pratibha urged the female students to ask questions and get better of their doubts regarding Menstrual Cups. The students were forthcoming in asking their various queries and Dr Pratibha directed them to the speaker, at the end of the talk all the staff members and students pledged to take this small step towards sustainability and female hygiene by switching to Menstrual Cups.
